Five More Texas Teams Receive DWI Court Team Training

Five teams from Texas, together with another from Oklahoma and two from New Mexico, participated in a weeklong DWI Court team training event at the Texas Center for the Judiciary June 2-6.  The training was conducted by staff members from the National Drug Court Institute with a curriculum based on the successful drug court model, but specifically designed for newly created DWI Courts.  Judges and their designated team members from Dallas, Hillsboro, Kaufman, Cameron, and Corpus Christi spent the week learning how to implement the intensive supervision/treatment model that has been so successful dealing with hard-core impaired drivers, and finished the week having created a policy and procedure manual designed specifically for their County’s needs.  This is the fourth consecutive year that the Texas Center has hosted this nationally sought after training event, and brings to twenty the total number of the Texas teams trained.
