DWI CollegeThe Texas Judicial College for the Study of Alcohol and Other Drugs (DWI College) provides an ideal forum for trial judges, administrative law judges, DWI Court team members, and student conduct officers to learn, share information, discuss treatment options, and explore best practices in alcohol and impaired driving. The DWI College offers four limited enrollment educational tracks to further judicial understanding of all impaired driving issues.

The Trial Judge Track educates judges about alcohol and other drugs, provides a more practical understanding of areas such as SFST’s and DRE’s; and discusses the use and operation of breath interlock, SCRAM, and other technological devices.

The ALJ Track educates administrative law judges about issues to be decided in administrative license revocation cases.

The DWI Court Team Track provides additional advanced training for currently functioning DWI Court teams, and includes professionals from related fields that work in conjunction with judicial officials in deciding how to best adjudicate a case.

The Student Conduct Officers Track provides professional development and training for campus judicial officers, focuses, on student alcohol and drug abuse and impaired driving prevention, offers uniform comprehensive SCO education and preventive strategies training, and provides a forum for the exchange of current practices and innovative strategies.

There is no registration fee for this TxDOT grant-funded training, and attendance expenses will be reimbursed.*

* Participants must attend all classes in their track. Expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with grant requirements.

The College for 2010 will be held July 19-22.
